Homestuck Drabble AU 2
Yeah….I wrote more…I dunno. Ha but I’m having fun writing these. Hopefully you guys like it. Also I really need to come up with a more solid title name…
Rose took a long slow drag from the cigarette she managed to pry from Dave. It was just what she needed right now. That’s all. Weary eyes and a steady hand, she let out the smoke slowly as she reached for his unmoving hand. He was still asleep despite the days events, it must have taken a toll on him. That rundown building was the last shelter they had for a while. Now it was starting to snow and Rose just wanted to huddle close to a fire. She thought of her home, back with her mother. Running away wasn’t a solution but it was all she could do at the moment. With nowhere to go and no one else to turn to for real help she ended up relying on an old friend with troubles of his own.
The Strider brothers gave comfort to other whom were lost and alone in the city with the building that was condemned and deemed it theirs. That is until the police visit took Dirk away and the others had either got arrested or scattered in the confusion. Now, the building was locked and shut up tight and marked for being torn down. Right now the two blondes were held up in a box in an alley starving and taking turns sleeping. Dirk would always handle getting food for them and getting blankets to keep them warm. Any kind of comfort they had was locked up in the building, ready to be knocked down.
Dave stirred before waking, hurriedly she put the cigarette out and tossed it elsewhere. He gave an irritated scowl, seeing what she did. With a flourish he pulled out his sunglasses and sat up straight in the box, or as straight as he could for a 14-15 year old teenager growing like a gangly weed. He yawned and stretched before looking at Rose, Now she could nap while he kept watch. However she didn’t move to lay down or give up her spot outside the cardboard.
“’Sup?” He questioned her with a gaze of curiosity hidden behind shaded eyes.
“Do you think that I did the right thing?” She questioned, which was a surprise. She was usually the one to give insight but he supposed that even she couldn’t look deep within herself and find a real close cut answer all the time.
“What? Running to come with the Orphan Squatter Kings of Lower Downtown? Nah, you chose right. After all, who else could take great care of you?” He answered with a smirk. She gave an irritated one of her own, looking like she was going to punch his shoulder.
“…So what now? I mean, I could always go home and just…accept my unhappy life there but what about you? Dirk is gone now.” She said, a look of calculation on her face.
“Well, I could try and get a job now that I’m legal in a year. Do odd jobs like he did, but I’d need to get some clean interview clothes and a shower first. A residence to put down as my address would be good too.” Dave said with a sigh. He gave a look at Rose that showed concern but not for himself. “I’m more worried about the others. Who got taken away besides bro? Where is everyone? Are they safe and warm in this snow?”
Rose gave him a hug suddenly.
“We can do this. We’ll make it through, for everyone too. First…we have to think about ourselves first.” She said, with a steady voice as she pulled back. “We need to get Dirk out somehow. Hopefully they’ll let him go soon but…it’s the fine he may have to pay that I worry about…”
Dave stayed silent for a moment. With a soft sigh he pulled his aviators off and hugged his knees. “I need my brother back…he’s all I have left Rose. He’s my only family left…”
