Homestuck Drabble AU
I’m not sure what really possessed me to write this or what to even call this AU, but I wanna write more. Hopefully people like it anyway though.
This is basically a premise of a lot of the kids being runaways, orphans, or homeless and how they deal with the situation. I’m still trying to work everything out.

He reached her just in time as she fell to the ground. If it wasn’t for who he was sure had to be her big brother, her head would’ve hit the concrete. Obviously she hadn’t eaten in a very long while. Bright sky blue eyes looked into cracked sunglasses and he knew this could keep happening.
“Equius, we have to take her to the clinic. They could help!” John pleaded with the other boy. It took a moment for the bigger boy to accept it with heavy shoulders and pick up the small girl.
It was a whirlwind of emotions fluttering in John’s stomach. He wanted her to be ok more than anything. If he had known this would happen…he would have returned home a while ago and tried to get them help. He had lots of friends now but he wanted to help all of them. With not a clue or glimmer of an idea of how he still felt this way. He felt so lost.
“Eq…” A soft voice cried out. Instantly a concerned look came on his face and he looked at the young girl in his arms, Her dark hair curled around her pale face, green eyes looking dull. She was really sick and for a moment the boys were sure she would vomit or at least dry heave since her stomach was empty. “I don’t feel good.”
“Nepeta, you fainted. We are taking you to get medical attention at the clinic.” Equius replied, his voice steady. He was always one to keep calm despite desperate circumstances. John could tell though and surely Nepeta could too. The bright animal loving girl was always one for knowing how most people felt and how their hearts led them. She nodded weakly in his arms and sighed heavily, her breath was uneven.
With this, they hurried down the city blocks, and cursed how far everything seemed to feel in a hurry. I guess it came with the territory of being in a city this big. It hid so many secrets within buildings and alleys from the eyes of people who had settled with living their lives in warm homes and warm bellies. It was as if everything was against them, Nepeta’s eyes closed again as Equius held her close. Once they were near the clinic they let out a sigh of relief at least as the rushed in. It was a free clinic but the fact it was a medical facility was still what they needed. It was where all the kids could go, no questions asked.
John flinched as he saw his father sitting in one of the waiting room chairs himself. The disheveled businessman who was once successful and kept his family happy in a warm house in suburbia had become a broken man John had run away from. He had been gone for a while but hadn’t expected his father to look so low. Their eyes locked as nurses helped Equius with Nepeta.
With a dry throat he couldn’t bring himself to speak to the man now getting up and heading towards him. Still in silence, John could feel his heart breaking. Maybe being around Nepeta had rubbed it off on him but he realized how selfish he had acted in running away and abandoning his father in such a bad time in their life. Tears flowed freely as the man in raggedy business attire hugged his son the first time in a few weeks.
“I’m so sorry,” He managed. “My friend needs help…I don’t know what to do. Dad…” He murmured into his father’s clothes. “I’m sorry.”
